Matthews Australasia hosted a successful workshop, ‘Everything Barcoding & 2D’, late last month, welcoming a select group of 14 professionals from the manufacturing and retail sectors to its Scoresby head office.
The free workshop, designed to address the growing interest in 2D barcodes, SSCC labelling, and compliance with Australian supermarket requirements, was led by Braydon Cocks, Matthews’ Sales Product Specialist for iDSnet & LPA Solutions.
“We receive a lot of questions about barcoding every week,” Braydon explained. “Often, people find answers in our free resources, like the 2D Barcode Learning Centre, Barcode Learning Centre, or by working through the Barcode Academy. This workshop was an opportunity to dive deeper and provide tailored guidance on individual production and supply chain challenges.”
Attendees gained insights from industry experts through a comprehensive presentation on barcoding technologies and the evolving 2D barcode journey. A key focus of the session was the Australian retail landscape, exploring barcoding practices across the supply chain – from product to pallet – and providing updates on the upcoming 2027 milestone, when 2D barcodes will be scanned at supermarket checkouts.
Participants were also given the opportunity to experience live demonstrations of some of Matthews’ solutions, including:
“These demonstrations gave attendees practical, hands-on exposure to how Matthews’ solutions can simplify their 2D barcode implementation,” Braydon said.
The workshop’s lively Q&A session provided attendees the chance to ask detailed questions, allowing Matthews’ experienced field representatives to address specific challenges and offer actionable solutions for navigating the transition to 2D barcodes.
To wrap up the event, a networking morning tea encouraged participants to connect with peers and the Matthews team, exchanging ideas and discussing strategies for success.
Braydon concluded, “The shift to 2D barcodes is already underway. Whether manufacturers are just starting out or refining their approach, Matthews’ experienced field reps are here to guide them every step of the way. With our free resources and expert advice, Australian manufacturers can confidently embrace this transformation.”
This event marks the beginning of an exciting series of workshops planned to continue in 2025. Matthews is committed to educating and empowering manufacturers with the tools and knowledge they need to stay ahead in an evolving industry. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events and opportunities to participate.
